28 Jul Walk for Apraxia Newsletter – July 2021
Welcome Letter
The 2021 Walk for Apraxia launched in February, but planning has been an evolutionary process. Apraxia Kids is pleased to invite you to one of our 89 Walks in the U.S. or Canada and inform you of many updates. If you have not registered yet, go to our Walk for Apraxia page, find a location most convenient to you, and click the link. Once on your local Walk page, click JOIN. Remember, registration is FREE!
This year, all Walk events are offering virtual participation. In addition, some Walks will have an in-person experience. When reviewing your local Walk page, please take notice of the location details. All virtual-only events are marked “Virtual” in the title and “Wherever YOU Are” is listed under location. All hybrid events with in-person gathering options will have a venue listed. No matter how you walk, remember this is your chance to raise awareness in your community and celebrate all of the Apraxia Stars.
As Apraxia Kids prepares for our 14th annual Walk for Apraxia, all events will continue to hold the same traditions as years before – to acknowledge the Apraxia Stars during a ceremony, to raise awareness, and to support the mission of Apraxia Kids through celebration and fundraising. We welcome you to take your steps with us and make an impact!
2021 Walk for Apraxia Experience
The Walk for Apraxia is more than just one day! It is a whole experience of things that individuals can participate in as they network and prepare for their event date. So, as we approach the fall, now is the time to start looking at the Team Captain Guide, Participant Guide, Fundraising 101 Guide, and Social Media Guide. These resources are available to help you better plan ways to engage with your network, grow your team, and raise funds. Each guide offers a checklist or a timeline to help you organize yourself. Remember, you cannot do it all, but you can make a good plan for yourself by reading over these guides and choosing what best fits your needs.
Earn your official 2021 Walk for Apraxia T-shirt and other gifts
There are many ways to earn the Walk for Apraxia gifts like making a self-donation, hosting a fundraiser, connecting your Walk participant center to Facebook fundraising, and more! Registered participants who raise $50 on or before their T-shirt deadline will be shipped the Official 2021 Walk for Apraxia shirts before their Walk for Apraxia date. Registered participants who earn their shirts after the deadline will be shipped a shirt, but at a later date.
Raise more, earn more! Continue fundraising through the end of this year. Remember your fundraising efforts help sustain the programs and resources provided by Apraxia Kids to serve families across the nation and beyond. As a token of our appreciation, we are excited to offer one additional gift to those who reach goals of $150, $300, or $500. These gifts will be directly shipped in early 2022 once fundraising is over.
Congratulations to the teams who completed the 2021 Walk for Apraxia Summer Team Challenge and earned a custom made team sign! These teams raised $500+ AND have at least five registered team members.
Challenge yourself and earn your own team sign – hurry before the deadline on July 31!
