Therapy would start with an evaluation, which consists of parent interview, play-based interactions with the child, standardized assessment (mainly looking at picture books and answering questions), and a speech assessment (the child says different words with me). A therapy session would consist of working on up to 8 different words for several repetitions of each word. I utilize highly-prized reinforcers after every 5-10 repetitions (depending on the child and that the child picks out). Ideally, I would want to see children 2-3x/week to improve their motor speech movements. Some children are seen 1x/week as they receive therapy in schools or early intervention. If a child has another SLP that is involved in their care, I will request the parent to fill out a Release of Information in order for me to talk with the other SLP.
