I personalize therapy sessions according to a child's needs and interests. A child's goals are based on their current communication skills. Since apraxia is a movement disorder, I use the principles of motor learning to guide treatment. Prompts are given at the level the child needs and faded as they improve. I strive to achieve high repetitions of target words during engaging activities that are catered to a child's particular interests. I rely on functional and meaningful targets to increase a child's ability to communicate independently.
