I primarily use the Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cuing (DTTC) method. This is paired with visual, verbal, tactile, gestural, etc... cues as appropriate and needed by the child. I use evidence and research-based methods. As they are dynamic in nature, this allows me to custom tailor my treatment as specific to the child's needs.
The parents of my clients are highly involved in the therapy process. I encourage this as this is the best way for someone to make progress past the current session. The majority of my parents are present during the session and I train them with the materials and cues that I use in sessions so that they can do so at home as well.
I use AAC as it best suits the needs of the family and child. I usually create my own PECS system for the child, especially if they do not already have one. This helps me to focus on the child's target words and promote carry-over. I have used a variety of high-tech systems as well and I help families in the process of obtaining a system if they desire to do so. I encourage all modalities of speech/language in order to promote the successful communication of everyone involved.
