I use Combination of Motor-Programming, Linguistics, Sensory Cueing, and Prosodic Approaches paired with caregiver education and training. Also I focus on establishing eye contact, motor imitation skills, pre-speech and automatic language. vocalizing and vowel production, sequencing sound combinations, establishing functional core vocabulary/phrases, improved prosody, literacy work. Skilled interventions may include speech simplification, communication temptations, multi modal cueing, AAC.
I provided activities, model strategies, and require caregiver participate during intervention. Caregivers are trained to provide cueing and prompting assistance to their child to improve participation and to allow the child to learn the correct motor pattern. They provide repetition in multiple environments which results in generalization and an increase in success for carryover and maintenance.
Used gestures/signs, PECS and Accent 800 device for children with severe CAS to provide functional communication method while working on verbal speech.
