A typical therapy session incorporates activities that the child is interested in. A small set of words that is of meaning to the child will be targeted and worked into playful activities. If the child is young, we will spend most if not all of our time on the floor. I will plan for activities, but if the child has other ideas, I will pivot and make sure that we practice the targeted words/syllable structures in activities that the child enjoys. Parent involvement and/or observation is highly recommended. We are asking our children to do a lot, and it is hard work. I try to make each session as fun as possible and make it feel like it isn't work.
