Overall Treatment Approach:

I follow the motor planning approach of DTTC by Edyth Strand. The agency I work for provides therapy in the child's natural environment (i.e. home, daycare, etc.). I do serve ages birth to 3 years old and then assist with transitioning them to the pre-K program. If the parent does not want to transition but desires to continue therapy, private options can be considered.

Parent Involvement:

Parents are an important part of therapy. They are able to assist with translating what their child is saying and are considered to be the interventionist when the SLP is not there. Parents will be able to learn strategies for continued practice at home that can be incorporated to their daily routines.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

I have had experience using low tech (i.e. pictures, core board) and high tech (i.e. LAMP, Touch Chat, Proloquo to go, SnapChat Lite) with children who have very limited expressive language. Assistance with devices has been done in individual sessions, small language groups, and in the classroom setting.
