Our therapists believe parents are partners in the therapy process. When a child comes in for an evaluation, we assess to find what the child can do and cannot do. Then with the parents, we determine what the child needs to do to communicate effectively with family, peers, and other adults. This guides our goals for therapy. Our treatment focus is to use what the child can do to help bridge the gap to the next level. It is our goal to build the child's confidence by allowing them to build on their present skills. Parents are included in the therapy process and provided with training for home program success. PROMPT Level 1 & 2 and DTTC Level 1 & 2 trained therapist.
Parents are welcome in the therapy room during therapy. We include parents in goal decisions and target choices that will be functional and meaningful for the child. We provide education and training to ensure a successful home program. We believe that treatment will be more effective and efficient with parents as partners in the therapy process.
We offer the option of AAC in therapy. We will use picture systems and cards in early sessions to help the child communicate and make choices for therapy activities. Parents are provided with the option to have a home picture exchange system or iPad communication. We work with the family to provide best options for the home environment.
