Our therapy for children with CAS, or Childhood Apraxia of Speech, is designed to be fun and engaging. We use quick motivating activities, while practicing motor movements to help your child practice their speech sounds and improve their communication skills. It's a bit like playing, but with a purpose – to empower your child find their voice and speak more clearly. Our therapists are friendly and patient, and they work closely with your child to make progress at their own pace. We're here to support and celebrate every step of their speech journey!
At Find My Voice Therapy Services, we strongly believe in involving parents every step of the way in their child's therapy journey. From the start, we engage in open communication with you, discussing your concerns, goals, and expectations. During therapy sessions, we encourage parents to be present and participate as much as they feel comfortable. This active involvement helps you understand the therapy techniques and how to integrate them into your daily routines. We provide regular updates on your child's progress and offer guidance on activities you can do at home to support their speech and language development. We see you as an essential partner, working together to empower your child's communication skills.
In our therapy practice, we have extensive experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods, both low and high-tech, tailored for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). We may introduce low-tech AAC tools like picture boards or communication books to bridge the gap between their thoughts and spoken words. For others, we explore high-tech AAC devices or apps, personalized to their needs, enabling more complex communication. Our approach is individualized, always aiming to empower the child's ability to express themselves effectively and interact with their environment. We often use AAC tools simultaneously with verbal speech practice to empower them to communicate.
