Overall Treatment Approach:

I provide a play-based approach using a variety of cues to help children with CAS develop motor plans to produce words that are important to the child and parent. We work on getting tons of practice with these words until they become second nature. Therapy is provided in the home to allow parents to participate, ask questions, and feel comfortable providing home practice effectively.

Parent Involvement:

Parents are present for in home sessions and will be asked to actively participate. I will teach how to cue the child and provide a home programming plan that the parent feels comfortable implementing. We will regularly check in to see how home programming is going and make adjustments as needed. I believe in the importance of the parent clinician relationship as a crucial component to the therapy process and my goal is to be a support system to create lasting change.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

I have used visual supports and apps with robust vocabulary to bridge the gap between speech and communication. AAC is a important component to CAS therapy and can greatly reduce frustration.
