Overall Treatment Approach:

A speech session for a child with CAS will focus on a short list of specific words that are motivating and challenging for the child. Children will work on specific words until they are producing them independently and beginning to use them in sentences and conversation. Therapy will also incorporate fast turn-taking games or movement activities that keep their motivation and engagement high!

Parent Involvement:

Parent involvement is encouraged! Parents will be encourage to observe the last few minutes of therapy so that their child can show what they learned each session and recommendations for home practice can be provided.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

Using AAC for children with CAS is an important consideration. Many children benefit from high and low tech options while they work on improving their motor programming and planning weaknesses. AAC will be discussed with parents and trialed with children during therapy to determine the appropriate aided supports for a child.
