I have advanced trainings using the Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing treatment approach and am also PROMPT-trained. My clinical style is very child-focused, first working to develop a strong therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and highly individualized to your child's specific interests. I then work with your family to develop specific speech targets that are attainable for your child. Therapy sessions will consist of using blocked practice (highly repetitive) followed by play-based therapy to maintain child interest and motivation. My therapeutic style is active, fun, and playful. I am often found providing speech treatment in backyards or on playgrounds.
In addition to working with children with CAS, I also have a wealth experience using a total communication approach, including sign language and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to augment your child's verbal language as needed.
I encourage parents to join and participate in all therapy sessions to better understand how I work with your child and to make specific recommendations for your child. Once your child begins to make progress, home practice recommendations will be provided to improve your child's ability to apply what they have learned in our sessions to more natural environments.
I help evaluate and provide guidance on specific AAC systems that may meet your child's needs, including both low and high tech options. A total communication approach is vital to allow your child access to a robust language system across different environment, while continuing to address their motor planning deficits with verbal speech.
