I see children in my home office. Parents are welcome to observe or meet at the end of the session. Based on the motor speech evaluation, language skills, and the child's attention, I carefully select a set of targets based on functionality, motor speech, and syllable shape. I apply the DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) Methods moving up and down the hierarchy of difficulty, and include prosody at each stage of learning. After a set of block practice of targets, the young child selects a short activity and then we return to therapy.
If the child is school-aged and has literacy concerns, I am also a Wilson Language certified tutor as well as a speech-language pathologist. Using one of the Wilson Language Programs, and taking into account motor speech difficulties, separate lessons can be prepared to make the child a successful reader.
