I am a PROMPT Certified Clinician. This means while using the principles of motor learning in the treatment plan development and implementation, there are also considerations of the whole child (receptive/expressive language, social/emotional language) along with any external/internal factors that impact the child. The PROMPT philosophy is different from other motor learning approaches because it incorporates all these areas into the treatment plan. This allows each child to have their own individualized treatment plan based on an assessment of strengths and needs in each domain.
Parents can be as involved as they feel comfortable. Each session takes time to discuss what we worked on and areas to work on at home until our next session. Each suggestion will be implemented during functional and natural play for the child's cognitive age.
AAC (low and high tech) is imperative to our work. Consistent visuals, choices, and providing the child an ability to share their ideas is important to build your child's trust with me.
