I work in private practice (sole proprietor) which gives me a unique opportunity to have parents/caregivers present during my sessions. The primary goal is to engage the child in Motor based learning, starting with helping the child and family understand what we will be working on (improving awareness and intent). I implement the Principles of Motor Learning depending on the severity of the speech disorder. I set conditions of practice and schedules and provide feedback accordingly (internal as well as providing knowledge of results/performance). I focus on movement as opposed to just phoneme production. PROMPT trained and advanced training in DTTC.
