For a child who is 3 years old and can consistently say "go" "no" "mama" "dada" "hi" and "by" can sign eat, more, help and shoe and can say the following vowels: ah, (hi)ai, ow, oo (no).
I would see if child is stimulable at least 10% for the following if the family thinks they would be meaningful and motivating "bow" for her hair , ni -no (night night), on, doh (play doh), goo, ha (haha, or ho for hot) , my , mo (more) I would start with the five most motivating and meaningful as identified by family.
I include my parents in every aspect of their child's treatment. Beginning with my evaluation I use parent report and video recording to assess and see their child in their everyday routines. During treatment planning I use the parents input to determine appropriate goals for treatment and a plan for discharge. During therapy the parent is asked to be actively involved. My clinic invites parents to attend during all of their child's sessions and when providing services to children under three I prefer to provide therapy in the child's home with a combination of parent coaching teaching the parent how to work with their child during every day routines and direct therapy where I use the parents I put on most meaningful words and names to target.
I am trained and have used PECS, I have provided my clients with AAC evaluations and have received funding from insurance to provide clients with both dedicated speech devices, and non dedicated speech generating devices. I also use sign language throughout every session.
