My treatment approach primarily consists of motor-based, multi-sensory approaches with emphasis on movement rather than speech sounds. My therapy incorporates Principles of Motor Learning in child-led activities to blend evidence-based practices together with some fun. I also believe in the importance of selecting words that actually matter to the child, like their name, pet's name, favourite snack, etc.

Caregiver involvement is absolutely crucial for optimizing outcomes in speech intervention by helping with goal setting, keeping up with home practice to facilitate the carryover of new skills in a variety of settings, and they are encouraged to actively participate in therapy every step of the way to improve their child's quality of life as a whole.
My direct experience with AAC is limited, however, I am continuously learning how AAC can benefit children with CAS through professional development, support groups, etc. As such, I often refer children to Surrey Place or Holland Bloorview, as they are better able to support families requiring AAC support.
