01 Nov How can you support children with apraxia on #GivingTuesday?
Despite our best efforts to stop time, the 2019 holiday season is quickly approaching! (Unfortunately, stopping time is outside of our mission – but I assure you if we could do it, we would make sure every child with apraxia had access to the best therapy before we started the clock again!)
For some, the days after Thanksgiving mean heading to the stores on Black Friday or snagging the best deals from home on Cyber Monday. For Apraxia Kids, we look forward to Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a “global giving movement”, an opportunity for nonprofits like ours to raise critical funds necessary for fulling our mission to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia.
This year, on Tuesday, December 3rd, we are raising funds to support our National Conference Scholarship program. (Scholarship applications will be available November 1st) Every year, we help 25-30 parents cover the costs of attending our annual conference in order to alleviate some of the financial strain. We know you have many worthy causes to support, but we hope you will consider the following words from scholarship recipients when making choices about your donations:
“…the first word that comes to my mind after attending this conference is WOW!! I just can’t express how much this conference meant to me. I learned so much, my brain still hasn’t been able to process all that was shared! I felt empowered and encouraged by all of the speakers I had the privilege to listen to. I now realize I am NOT alone fighting this battle with my little warrior. Thank you so much, this scholarship was greatly appreciated.”
“Thank you all so much for awarding us the scholarship to attend this conference. It would have been very hard financially for us to attend if we had not received the scholarship. Going to this conference was extremely beneficial. It made us feel less alone and let us know that there is a community out there. Thank you again because this conference gave us even more hope and a clearer vision of our path going forward!”
