Dear Friends,
Happy February! As we kick off this month, we are all focusing on ways that we can show love to our Apraxia Community. 2025 marks a special year for Apraxia Kids as we kick off our 25th anniversary celebration! This year we will be recognizing the hard work of our apraxia community over the last 25 years while continuing to push our mission forward! With spring just around the corner, there are so many exciting things happening that we want to share.
Our biggest celebration of love and support is our Walk for Apraxia! We are thrilled to announce that our 2025 Walk for Apraxia season will be kicking off this month. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to show their love for your Apraxia Star by supporting the Walk for Apraxia and showing up on Walk day to make our 2025 Walk for Apraxia season the best one yet! In addition, sponsorship opportunities are available for all of our Walks, as well as volunteer opportunities to help plan the event. Visit our Walk for Apraxia Home Page for more details on how you can get involved. Looking for more information about the Walk for Apraxia? Take a look at highlights from our 2024 Walk for Apraxia Newsletter!
Another way to show your love and support for your Apraxia Star is by learning for them! Our 2025 National Conference will be held virtually this year to open the doors for even more families and professionals to learn invaluable knowledge and connect with others on their apraxia journeys across the globe! This year’s National Conference will take place from July 9th – 12th with many live opportunities to meet others, ask questions and engage in family fun. With our conference being virtual, we will have an extended time through August 31 for everyone to view our recordings – therefore providing a longer time to learn from a variety of recorded sessions! Check out our FAQs so you will be ready when registration opens next month with Early Bird rates! Also look on our website for information to apply for a caregiver scholarship to attend conference.
This month we will also be starting our new series called “Fast Fact Friday” on all social media platforms! Check our social media every Friday for a new fun fact relating to CAS that you can share on your social media to help your own community learn more about childhood apraxia of speech!
Apraxia Awareness Month is also right around the corner and a great way to spread hope and love! Our theme this year is Creating Community Connections and we will have numerous ways to connect with your local communities and help your friends and family have a better understanding of childhood apraxia of speech. One way to get started preparing for Awareness Month is by filing a proclamation to declare May 14th as Apraxia Awareness Day in your area! Now is also the time to order your Be the Voice Kit to help spread awareness and fundraise in the month of May!
It is also time to start thinking about and planning for summer! Apraxia Kids has recently updated our Summer Camps listings so that parents and caregivers can quickly find summer camps tailored to meeting speech and apraxia needs! Summer camps provide intensive therapy and are a great way to make friends and build confidence while improving their speech. View our summer camp page here.
Without your support, Apraxia Kids would not be able to achieve our vision of every child with CAS finding their voice. Together, we can further our mission to serve more families and educate more professionals. We hope you will continue to share our resources with a new family or SLP, join us for one of our upcoming events, and spread awareness this May! Your continued support allows us to make a difference in the lives of all of our Apraxia Stars. We thank you for your continued commitment.
