07 Apr April 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends,
We have been busy preparing for Apraxia Awareness Month this May celebrating Creating Community Connections and are so excited to share all that we have planned. In the coming weeks, we will share ways for you to connect with your community to raise awareness for CAS as well as share the connections Apraxia Kids has made over the last 25 years! We also will have a special way to thank your SLP in Awareness Month, so stay tuned for more details. Learn more about the ways to prepare for Awareness Month by checking out our blog.
We have many ways you can already start celebrating Apraxia Awareness Month. This year we have again created a new social media profile frame to help you spread awareness with your own network. You can request one here and a staff member will send you an email with your custom profile picture! Request yours now so you can be ready for May 1st! Apraxia Kids is also here to support your efforts and offer resources to support your apraxia community.
Now is also the time to file a proclamation for your state, providence, county, or city! A proclamation is a public or official announcement issued by your local government. Our community files proclamations every year to make May 14th Apraxia Awareness Day. Most areas require a few weeks to process so be sure to file yours today!
Have you ordered your Be the Voice Kit yet? The deadline to receive your Be the Voice Kit by Apraxia Awareness Day is quickly approaching! Order your kit by April 15th to ensure an on time delivery. We have kits designed to fit your needs for awareness events, classroom parties, fundraisers, and more! Learn more about Be the Voice here.
Save the date for May 14th: Apraxia Awareness Day and our Day of Giving! Every year we ask our community to make a donation to Apraxia Kids so that we can continue our mission to bring new resources to our apraxia community and help support children with apraxia of speech! Don’t want to wait? Donate today!
Registration is open for the 2025 National Conference which will take place virtually this year! We cannot wait to connect with even more community members by opening the doors to everyone around the globe. This fully interactive conference experience will still have all your favorite in-person experiences such as times to socialize, ask questions, and engage with other families and professionals. Another big perk of our fully virtual conference is that over 70 recordings will be available to watch through the end of August, giving you even more time to take advantage of these incredible sessions.
Registration is also open for the Walk for Apraxia! We challenge you to invite your friends and family to join you for FREE in support of your Apraxia Star. The Walk for Apraxia is the largest apraxia community event and we cannot wait for you to see old friends, make new friends, and celebrate together! We are still looking for volunteers to help plan some of our Walks, so if you have been looking for a way to get involved please fill out this survey! We continue to look for sponsors to support our local Walk events. If you have a business or know someone that does, check out our sponsorship packages!
We are also thrilled to announce our new partnership with Lasting Change. This app allows you to round up your everyday purchases to support Apraxia Kids. Every penny counts and when combined with other donations; pennies have a HUGE impact. Learn more about Lasting Change here.
Wow, that was a lot to share! We encourage you to stay connected as we continue to roll out new initiatives throughout these next few weeks! We are so grateful for our entire community and look forward to connecting with you throughout the month!
Best,
Angela Grimm
