Congratulations Yvonne San Juan, M.S., CCC-SLP!

Congratulations to Yvonne San Juan, M.S., CCC-SLP, for graduating from the Apraxia Kids Intensive Training Institute (Apraxia Boot Camp)!

Yvonne San Juan, M.S., CCC-SLP specializes in working with children ages 1-13. She has also worked in the local school district for 7 years. She currently works at her own outpatient pediatric clinic called Achieve Speech Therapy. Yvonne has advanced training in the area of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She also has experience in the following areas: stuttering, autism, articulation and phonological disorders, and language disorders. Yvonne resides in Anchorage, Alaska with her family (husband and two boys) and enjoys traveling, reading, and the outdoors in her free time.

Apraxia Kids: If you were to state the #1 thing you learned from this training experience, what would that be?

Yvonne: I think the main thing that I learned was to gain confidence in treatment and assessment of CAS. I felt unsure prior to the Bootcamp, and now I have more confidence in making an accurate diagnosis.

Apraxia Kids: Tell us about any relationships that you formed through the training experience.

Yvonne: Working with Sue was wonderful. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. Also, I was able to form relationships in our group which I still maintain.

Apraxia Kids: Have you served as a local resource/information source for other professionals and families since attending the intensive training? If so, please share an example of how you used your expertise.

Yvonne: I have not yet had the opportunity to do this, but hope to in the future. Now that I have completed to the program, I plan to get the word out to our local early intervention programs that I have advanced training and experience and am available to provide information and resources.

Apraxia Kids: What would you say to someone considering applying to boot camp next year?

Yvonne: I would say to go for it! It is well worth the time and money in training and also in building connections with other speech therapists.
