Therapy incorporates the principles of motor learning and most update to evidence while still being fun and motivating for your child. I coordinate care closely with the family to identify meaningful targets, carry-over activities, and schedules. Each session we strive for 100 accurate productions of our targets. For younger children, therapy can be and often is play based in order to keep them engaged and motivated. I focus on movement patterns and building off of your child's current skills/sounds to increase their overall accuracy.
Parents are welcome to attend sessions. Otherwise, Seesaw can be used to provide therapy videos so you can see your child's progress. Target words are selected carefully between myself and the family.
Picture symbols and symbol cards are always available for your child as a low tech AAC option. I have them on toys, doors, and all over the room to support communication. There are also several other mid-tech devices (GoTalk and ProxTalker) that we have used as well. For high-tech options, we do AAC evaluations and screenings to make sure we match the correct vocabulary set to your child's needs. I am familiar and have experience with TouchChat, ProLoQuo, SnapScene, and GoTalk. I use these AAC systems to help supplement your child's language so they can communicate functionally and effectively.
