Overall Treatment Approach:
I try to think of a whole child and a whole family so I choose speech targets that will enhance everyday communication. During the therapy I follow the child’s lead, their interest, what makes them happy and we build a rapport on it. And there is lots of playing and fun.
Parent Involvement:
As a parent of teenager with CAS I know how important it is to be a part of a therapy. I teach parents how to be a part of their child’s journey to speech – speech cues, how to incorporate speech practice in everyday life, how to use AAC etc. I’m here to help you feel powerful and competent.
AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:
As an AAC specialist and a parent of AAC user I strongly believe that being understood is a first step to success. I incorporate AAC goals along with speech targets and teach children the power of multi modal communication.
