Overall Treatment Approach:

In my sessions I would be working to obtain lots of repetitions for the speech targets that were chosen. Specific cues and feedback would be used to help the child be successful in their productions. I would strive to make the sessions engaging and meaningful for the child.

Parent Involvement:

As a parent you know your child best. You know what is meaningful to them and what motivates them. You will get to help choose speech targets that are functional for your child. You will become a student and learn about principles of motor learning, types of cueing to use and how to support your child at home.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication. This provides kids with another way to communicate besides speech. I've used low tech such as picture core boards and high tech such as speech generating devices. While kids are learning to improve their verbal speech this gives them a means to communicate while also allowing them to build their expressive language skills.
