01 Jul July 2024 Newsletter
Dear Friends,
We hope that you all had a safe and fun 4th of July holiday! Next week, more than 360 parents, professionals, researchers, and students from over 6 countries will be joining us in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the Apraxia Kids National Conference. An additional 260 attendees from around the world will watch our virtual content throughout the month of July. We look forward to highlighting moments from the National Conference and encourage you to join us in one or all of the initiatives we are sharing below.
Apraxia Kids is excited to share that we will be celebrating Christmas in July! Stay tuned for more details on how you can honor your Apraxia Star and receive a personalized ornament while making a gift to the apraxia community.
This fall, we will host 62 in-person Walk for Apraxia events along with our Virtual Walk, offering the flexibility to celebrate virtually for communities where a Walk is not taking place. There is still plenty of time to take part in the Summer Team Challenge! Walk teams have the opportunity to earn a custom team sign to proudly carry on Walk day by registering 5 people to their team and collectively raising $500 by July 31st. Remember, you can register for the Walk for Apraxia for FREE! It has never been easier to join the Walk, raise awareness and funds, celebrate your Apraxia Star, and help us support Apraxia Stars nationwide.
Your support of Apraxia Kids allows us to move our mission forward year round and grow our programs and resources. One of the valuable resources we provide to families is our SLP Directory. Apraxia Kids currently maintains a directory of nearly 1,000 speech-language pathologists worldwide who can be easily accessed through our website. The directory provides parents the ability to find an SLP in their area who has a foundational knowledge of CAS and experience in evaluating and treating childhood apraxia of speech. If you know an SLP who is not in our directory, please share the link with them to join.
As we plan for the second half of 2024, your support of Apraxia Kids is even more critical. We encourage you to continue spreading awareness by sharing our resources and inviting friends, family, and professionals to join the Walk for Apraxia. Donating to Apraxia Kids also plays a crucial role as we look to sustain and expand the supports that we provide to families and professionals. Last month, we announced our new partnership with Wal-Mart and their round up program. By signing up today, you are making a huge difference when you select our organization to donate to when placing an online order! It is amazing how quicky these small contributions add up to provide additional support for the apraxia community.
Please know how grateful we are for your continued support of Apraxia Kids!
