Speech therapy for CAS is work, but should always be fun. Working with the family, I pick word targets that will be meaningful and motivating for the child to practice and establish rapport by praising their efforts and providing skilled cues to make speech easier and feel more successful. Although I aim for a high number of speech practices (usually over 100!),I trust that the child is always doing the best they can and incorporate more play-based speech activities if needed to increase participation.
