Financial Eligibility Information

Grants are not based solely on financial need. We welcome all families in need to apply regardless of their financial situation.  The financial needs of the family are considered but are not the most important factor.

Applicants will be asked to report annual adjusted gross income from 2023 taxes and to estimate annual adjusted gross income for 2024. If there has been a significant change between the two years’ incomes, the applicant will be asked to describe the reason for the change. In addition, the applicant will be asked to describe their financial need for applying for a free iPad from Apraxia Kids and what has been done previously to obtain a tablet for their child. No proof of income will be required to be submitted with this application.

Priority Areas

Each year, we receive more applications than available funds, and thus we must have priorities that we consider when all other factors are equal.

Priority factors in selection include:

  • Children with severe apraxia
  • CAS is the primary reason for communication impairment
  • Tablet is to be used as the child’s primary communication tool

Children who do not meet these priorities may still apply and be selected. However, when all other factors are equal, the selection committee will rely on our priority areas above in the selection process. The decisions of the selection committee are final.

Tablet Option

The Speech Tablet that will be awarded during this application process is an iPad with protective case.  No apps will be provided with the iPad.  Please consult your child’s speech-language pathologist for recommendations on apps that best meet your child’s needs.
