When it comes to treatment of CAS, I use Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing paired with The Principles of Motor Learning in order to teach and guide my kids to improving motor movements needed for speech sounds. The focus of my sessions are on the movement rather than sound errors, therefore, targets will be selected based on the child's sound and syllable shape repertoire as well as functionality. Throughout the session, the amount of cueing, distribution, and feedback is adjusted based on the child's response to intervention and help facilitate generalization.
Parents are incredibly important to incorporate in this process. Parent feedback is provided at the end of every session, often detailing what cues were beneficial for their child and providing education on CAS. In order to promote generalization and maintenance of skills, homework and other things that can be targeted at home are provided to the parents.
I have experience with high and low tech devices. I have taken trainings for LAMP Words for Life and use it in a handful of treatment sessions. The use of AAC is beneficial for communication repair, reduction of frustration, and amplify language learning.
