My therapy style is highly individualized to the needs of each child and always designed to be fun and incorporate their interests. My primary focus is supporting a child as they become a confident communicator, and so I use the strategy or combination of strategies that will be most effective in achieving that goal.
Parents are involved throughout the therapeutic process, from observing treatment directly, asking questions, and participating in home activities to support their child’s progress.
I have used AAC for children with CAS to support their expressive language development as they are working on their speech development. Forms of AAC that have been beneficial for children with CAS have included high tech devices with communication applications as well as low tech picture boards.
