For younger children (0-5) I use a child-led play based approach. I use the child's favorite objects (toys, cars, books) and find ways to incorporate repetition into those activities. I prefer when parents are involved in the treatment and use parent coaching, which is different from instruction or teaching, to help parents use strategies at home in a way that works best for them.

For older children (5+) I like to use ReST therapy as I have found this therapy fits well with my style and is tolerated by the kids. I am also trained in DTTS and will use that if it suits the child better. Both of these sessions look like a traditional speech session where the child takes turn practicing sounds and playing games. Parents are also invited to sit in if they would like, I will send homework home with specific instruction.

For children with a diagnosis of Autism I will also use a play-based neurodiversity affirming approach that is individualized to the client and family.
