Overall Treatment Approach:

embedded across a variety of activities. I support opportunities to work on and facilitate improved gross motor and fine motor sequencing and modulation of force/rate/intensity in order to translate these motor movements into the fine motor movements required for speech. Using my training in DTTC, I work to embed maximum repetitions of targeted speech motor movements within blocked and random practice sets as appropriate, adjusting target set size and type of cueing and feedback as needed.

Parent Involvement:

I encourage parents to observe and participate in therapy sessions in order to better understand our speech motor movement targets, the principles of motor learning, and how they can implement home programming to support the needed practice to facilitate improved speech in their child with CAS. I provide a home program with suggested activities, cueing, and reinforcers for support in the home.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

I utilize both low tech and high tech AAC to ensure that we are continuing to support overall communication skills development while simultaneously addressing CAS speech targets. Based on the student's communication needs, I work with each individual family to determine appropriate alternative and augmentative communication supports.
