CNY Speech Pathology provides an evidence based approach to working with pediatric client's and their families to provide individualized assessment and treatment of those with CAS. Parent training, involvement and home carryover is strongly supported and encouraged.
Parents are present during all therapy sessions. Parents learn specific home carryover techniques and are provided with a notebook in which the clinician discusses the session and goals/performance. Parents are partners in the therapeutic process and are actively involved in goal setting and collaboration.
CNY Speech Pathology incorporates a multi- modality approach to communication. Emilia incorporates all levels of AAC based on the child's abilities; considering his/her sensory motor skills. Emilia collaborates with SLPs specializing in higher level AAC assessments and often teams with an individual's school based therapists.
