11 Jan January 2023 Newsletter
Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! While we are excited to begin a new year filled with great opportunities, we continue to mourn the loss of our dear friend and staff member Heather Vallone. Heather was an amazing member of our team and community who truly believed in the mission of Apraxia Kids – she is dearly missed by us all.
As we kick off 2023, we look forward to sharing new resources, educational materials, and opportunities for engagement. Here are just a few things we have planned:
This month, we are hosting the third annual Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture. This virtual race is available for those who would like to walk, jog, or run while raising awareness about CAS. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Apraxia Awareness Month plans are well underway for May. We hope to share our theme and resources very soon! Check out our Awareness page for more information on Apraxia Awareness Month and the different ways you can help spread awareness of childhood apraxia of speech in your community.
We are once again looking for volunteers to file proclamations in your local state, county, or community to make May 14th Apraxia Awareness Day even more impactful! If you are interested in getting involved this year, follow this link to sign up!
Walk for Apraxia events will open later next month. Since our first walk in 2008, we have celebrated over 11,000 Apraxia Stars across North America. Be sure to follow the Walk for Apraxia Facebook Page for the most up-to-date information.
Plans are underway for our National Conference taking place in person July 6-8, 2023 in Plano, Texas. Hotel and registration information will be shared in early March. Keep checking back on our website as more information and updates become available!
We are looking to partner with small businesses and organizations. Learn more about our current Cause Partners or review the benefits of becoming a partner yourself!
Your continued commitment to Apraxia Kids impacts the voices of tomorrow. With your support, we are able to develop and share new programs and resources for our families and professional community. We look forward to our continued partnership in 2023.
Warmest Regards,
Angela Grimm
Executive Director
