Therapy is collaborative! I chose the name Partnership Speech/Language Services as I view the therapy process as just this: a partnership between the child, child's family, SLP, and those with whom the child regularly communicates (ex. grandparents, caregivers, friends, teachers, community members). I like to start by knowing how the child communicates, and about his/her interests and hobbies. Therapy should be fun and also functional for the child. We work toward words the child uses often and/or wants to say, shaping the sounds they have toward the target sounds, words, and sentences they want.
