My therapy strategies include getting to know a child’s personality, what is important or interests them and their families, and incorporating that into the treatment plan. Treatment targets are selected with input from the child’s caregivers, the child (if old enough), and teachers to ensure targets are as functional as possible. Treatment sessions are play-based so I am often on the floor or up moving around the room for younger kids. I use a battery of assessments and tasks to diagnose childhood apraxia of speech and use Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) and the principles of motor learning in my treatment sessions.
