At our clinic our therapy sessions are interactive and engaging for our client while treatment targets are implemented with appropriate amounts of intensity and frequency. Our clinic is family-orientated and parents are a key team member in the treatment process for a child with CAS. Our clinic also participates in the Apraxia Walks with the families we serve and provides support for families with children with CAS in the community.
Parents are a key team member when beginning the therapy process for a child that has CAS. Parent and therapist work together to create targets and goals that are meaningful and functional for their everyday life. Parent also play a huge role in the generalization and mastery of these targets across different environments.
I have used both low and high tech AAC for children with CAS that I have treated. I have used a variety of pictures, signs, and PECS with implementation of sound production with children beginning to understand language and for a variety of students seen in the school settings. I have also had experience using high tech AAC devices and have worked with Tobii Dynavox and Saltillo devices and apps.
