Prior to PROMPT, I utilized the Kaufman approach and would complete VC, CV, CVC cards in drill practice with verbal, visual and/or tactile cueing. I had also had training in "See the Sound". Once I had the PROMPT training, I utilized that assessment and developed the hierarchy for staging. I utilized their picture cards and activities to coincide with the stage of the sound sequence I was targeting with reinforcers for the child following drill sets. After the two courses by Dr. Strand, I utilize initially the modified block approach incorporating visual, verbal and tactile cueing with direct imitation, and then delayed imitation, etc. This may then lead to random practice. I incorporate books with predictable sequence and also utilize Hippotherapy during my drill sets.
