I am passionate about applying the dynamic approach and technique of PROMPT in order to develop the most effective and functional treatment program for improved communication function. My sessions consist of age-appropriate functional activities and the use of PROMPT technique to improve speech at all levels of the motor-speech hierarchy (i.e., phonation, jaw, labial-facial, lingual, and sequenced movements).
Parents are given a treatment plan that details the motor-speech goals and the targeted lexicon. The treatment plan is updated as the child progresses. Parents are also informed verbally of their child's performance during each session and given "homework" of what words their child has been successful with so that they can try to carryover at home.
I have incorporated low tech AAC in the form of picture symbols, basic ASL, and gestures to help facilitate expressive language development while simultaneously working on motor-speech skills. I don't have as much experience with high-tech AAC, although one of my current client's with a CAS and Autism diagnosis recently got approved for a high-tech AAC device through school and I hope to be trained on it.
