- Sprout Pediatric Therapy Services
Sprout Pediatric Therapy Services provides assessment and treatment for children up to age 18. When starting therapy with Sprout Pediatric Therapy, the initial step is a comprehensive speech and language evaluation including developmental history, parent and school interview, and informal and formal testing. This evaluation will provide a differential diagnosis for speech and language disorders. Once the evaluation is completed, a treatment plan will be made and discussed with the family. Therapy will be individualized for the child. My therapy approach is multisensory in nature. I use a variety of evidence-based treatment strategies. Your child will be having fun and working on speech all at the same time. Collaboration with the child's school and other therapy providers is essential for increased outcomes.
Making sure that parents understand what the goals are for therapy and the next steps for them to practice and carry over during the time I am not with the child is very important. I want parents to also feel that they can work on speech with their children in a natural way through play and authentic interactions. I always want to make sure that the parent feel heard and is comfortable with the therapy process.
I use augmentative alternative communication on a daily basis as the other hat I wear every day is an assistive technology specialist for a school district. I use low-high tech communication systems to augment children's verbal communication skills every day. I want to give a child a voice as soon as possible while we are working on verbal speech. AAC will help eliminate frustration and build language skills.
