I encourage parents to be actively involved in therapy sessions and at a minimum observe their child's therapy session from an observation room if possible. The parents are encouraged to work with their children at home on the designated homework program sent weekly.
Many children with CAS can benefit from AAC. I almost always use some level of AAC with children with CAS. I usually use a visual reinforcement board so the child can select what s/he wants to work for during therapy (so there isn't a breakdown in communication), I have used the Speak for Yourself App on the iPad with another client because she needed more support, I also like to use choice boards and star charts, first/then visuals, etc.
