I first took the Introduction to PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Muscular Phonetic Targets) in 2015 and became PROMPT Certified in the summer of 2021. I use the observational assessment developed by the PROMPT Institute in order to find out information about the client's motor system and choose meaningful and functional targets after discussing results with parents. Treatment always includes motivating activities that bring joy to the child and provides opportunities for specific feedback in developmentally appropriate ways.
Parents are involved in all aspects of treatment sessions and are coached to support their child's motor speech during authentic routines and activities at home between sessions. They are involved in every aspect of the process, including assessment, choosing meaningful targets, discussions during treatment sessions, home practice, and generalization strategies. Parents are provided with support in order to use Parameter PROMPTs across environments.
I am also a LAMP (Language Acquisition through Motor Planning) and our clinic is the only LAMP Certified Centre of Excellence in Canada.
