Overall Treatment Approach:

I initially determine the first three priority areas (e.g. mandibular control, lingual control, labial-facial control) from the motor-speech hierarchy, and the preferred planes of movement for treatment. Next, specific objectives are written to target a lexicon of functional syllables, words and phrases using a systematic approach.

Parent Involvement:

Parents either observe sessions or meet to discuss the session for the last five-ten minutes. Parents are provided with weekly home carryover assignments to target specific words/phrases (that are at mastery during therapy sessions) in functional home activities.

AAC Use/Implementation Expertise:

Most recently, I am learning about the Unity system and have a student with CAS beginning to use this device. I am also trained in PECs and have used this with other clients with CAS.
