This webinar will focus on the challenges, potential causes, and suggested approaches when children with apraxia experience disfluency and stuttering-like symptoms in their speech. The onset of speech disfluency can be very discouraging for both the therapist and the child’s parents during the course of therapy. Appropriate response to the disfluency is critical for optimal assurance that the disfluency will not worsen and hopefully will resolve if approached correctly.
As a result of this Webinar, participants will be able to:
- List potential reasons why speech disfluency may surface for children with CAS.
- Describe 3 ways that stuttering and CAS are similar.
- Outline 3 different types of disfluency.
- Describe key factors in the approach to the child experiencing speech disfluencies.
